Move text and shapes with a picture on a slide.

I have placed photos on slides to form a page for a book. One contains added
text and arrows. When I change the picture's position on the page the text
and shapes are left behind. Can they be fixed to the picture? Is there a
better way of producing illustration pages for publication?

Do the following:
1. Select the picture, text and arrow at the same time.
2. Right click on the picture.
3. Select "Grouping" | "Group" menu item.

This would keep them together.

Yes. PPT isn't designed for page layout for "true" printed pieces.

You should be drawing your illustrations in whatever drawing program you use
(Illustrator, Corel Draw, whatever) and exporting them as CMYK vector
images -- probably EPS will work best if your book will be printed on a
press.

Then use a page layout program -- InDesign, Pagemaker, heck, even MS
Publisher -- to place the photos and other elements on the pages. Printers
would *much* rather work with files from page layout programs than
PowerPoint files.

I'm sure they'd even appreciate a PDF of the PPT file rather than having to
work with the PPT file.
