MS word settings not saved when exit

I am using Office 2003 (and have since it was introduced) and had no problems
until I had to recover my C drive. Since them, some of my word settings are
nor save when I exit. In particular, when I add new buttons to a toolbar or
set up a new toolbar, the settings are fine until I close. When I reopen it,
the new buttons and toolbars are gone. I was told that maybe my antivirus or
antispyware might be a problem, but I have set them to not touch office (at
least any settings I can find).

If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it. This
is not a huge problem, but I would like to understand.

You could try holding the shift key down and then click File, Save All
to force a write to the normal.dot file.
