Multi skilled resources

Hi,
I need to set-up group resources with a degree of inter-changeability
between them. For example: I have 6 "technicians", 2 of which are carpenters
only, 2 are electricians only, and 2 of them are multi-skilled with BOTH
carpentry and electrical skills. I need to know when I have reached /
exceeded the capacity of my technicians on a project.

Let’s suppose I want to allocate carpenters to a task, but I know I have 2+2
of them.

Can I set-up a hierarchy, so that when the project’s tasks needing carpentry
resource have consumed 2 carpenters, the system then selects my multi-skilled
workers to act as further carpenters ?

If I can’t set-up hierarchy for resource skills, do you have any clever
workarounds ?

I guess the bottom line is the system does not select or assign the
resources, you do. These are just text fields to Project ...

You can assign workers to work groups as needed from the Resource Sheet
(just type in a work group name).

If Bob can perform electrical and carpetry work, you could list him twice
(once for each skill) at 50% capacity. Or, you can not use resource human
names, just work titles. So if you have Joe the carpenter and Bob the
builder, you could list "Carpenters" 150% (1.5 heads) and "Electricians" at
50%. However, with mixed skill sets for the same human, it is a challenge to
keep them from be over assigned or under assigned. At some point, you have
to do the reconcilliation.
