Multiple views of a single project plan

I have a project plan that is put together to logically explain the work
units that will occur in my project.

There is a need to also view this plan in sequential order for timing
purposes.

How can this be done?

Probably the easiest way is to sort on the Start date.

By "high level tasks" I assume you mean the Summary Lines. First filter
out the Summary Lines by only showing lines where the Summary field is
equal to "no" (also remember to uncheck the box at the bottom of the
filter definition window for showing related Summary lines). Then sort
by Start Date.
