My Tasks view showing No Tasks - MPP Server 2007

Hi,

I am configuring MPP 2007. I have some issues in accessing My tasks/ Time
sheets. I did not found this issues in my test server. We have installed
Windows Updates couple of days back (configured to update every Tuesdays).

1. Today, I'm trying to assign some tasks to myself. I have created project
and created tasks and assign all tasks to myself. The 'My Tasks' view shows
No tasks assigned. I have also unchecked 'Show Only Current Tasks' option.
But still not showing any task. My Time sheet showing the tasks assigned to
me. I also tried to import my tasks to Outlook. No tasks updated.

2. I have created some other new tasks and assign to another resource. Now
My Tasks showing the tasks assigned to him. But he said no tasks listed to
his My Tasks view.

3. I am trying to update MyTime sheet for a period (Weekly) and submitted
Successfully with 'System generated automatic approval' Message. But the
Project Center shows 0% complete in all my tasks even after publishing the
project.

Any help would be sincerely appricaited.

Hi,

in order to be able to see tasks in your My Tasks page, you must check 3
things:

1- your Booking Type on that project have to be set to Committed. Use the
Resource Sheet view to check;
2- you have to be the Assignment Owner of those assignments. Use the
Resource Usage or Task Usage view to check. This is also the reason why you
can see tasks assigned to other resources (you probably are Assignment Owner
of their assignments). The value for the Assignment Owner field are set at
assignment level;
3- all tasks have to be Published. Select the Gantt view and insert the
Publish field, it has to be Yes in order to be able to see the task in PWA.

One last thing: hours added to Timesheet do not give any progress on tasks.
In order to record progress, you need to import those hours on My Tasks and
submit them, or directly input a progress on the My Tasks page.

Thanks a lot Fabrizio.

1 - I have checked the Booking type in the build Team page. It is showing
'Committed' to all resources. Any Idea!

2. I'm the Assignment Owner. If I change my assignement owner to myself (I
am the administrator), The new tasks assigned after the change will show in
the list. But, It should show my tasks regardless of the assigment owner.
Suppose My Manager (My Assgnment Owner) assigns tasks to me... then it should
be listed in my tasks. Is n't it?


3. I have published number of times in all possible ways like Project
prfesional 2007 and Edit Project Properties from PWA.

The problem I think is what you said in point #2, that is not true. Tasks
appear in the My Tasks page according to what is indicated in the Assignment
Owner field, NOT according to the Resource assigned. So, if your manager is
your Default Assignment Owner (which you can set in PWA resource center)
every task he/she assign to you will show up inside his/her My Tasks unless
the Assignment Owner is changed in Project Professional using a Resource
Usage or Task Usage view (and the project re-published).

Only inside the Timesheet you will be able to see every task assigned
directly to you, regardless of the Assignment Owner.

Thanks Fabrizio, for the quick reply.

You are absolutely right. I have to change Assigment Owner to all my
resources.

Also, Just now found the answers in the title in this forum...

"Tasks visible in My Timesheets but not in My Tasks PWA views"
