My Word docs keep displaying like they're in a book!

What have I done wrong? My word documents randomly decide to display -- not just page by page, but sometimes as 2 pages on the screen, sometimes four. And then again, in other documents, it's perfectly normal. When I send the document to a friend, they all seem to display normally for him...so it must be some button I hit. can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thank you!

Hi Judith;

The only explanation I can come up with is that the documents involved have
been saved while Zoomed at a multiple page view, such as the "2 Pages"
setting. However, if that were the case they would open & display in that
type of view for anyone. Just to check:

The next time this happens go to View> Zoom..., select Page Width & when you
OK out make a change in the document (such as "space" followed by
"backspace" - not Undo). Then save & close the document & see what happens
when you reopen it.

There is no actual preference setting for this so even if it corrects the
problem you'll have to repeat it in each document that displays as multiple
pages. I'm not sure this is the issue, though, so if you do continue to have
the problem make sure to confirm that Office is fully updated (12.1.9 is the
current update level). Also indicate whether these are documents you've
created in 2008 or if they were received from another source. If another
source, what? Is there anything these documents have in common?
