"Name or Windows Account error" when adding new resources to Pool

I have recently been unable to edit or add new resources to the Enterprise
Resource pool. (Tools --> Enterprise Options --> Open Enterprise Resource
Pool)

I check out any existing Enterprise Resoures that need changes and add new
resources. After adding detail for the new ones, I double-click on each line
and fill in their e-mail address (as per Outlook) and Windows account (I.e.
SERVICES\Username). The Workgroup says "Default". I even verified the Windows
Account format by clicking on the Windows Account button and accepting what
the system says is correct.

However, once I'm finished making corrections or adding new users and I try
to save the changes, a "Validate Enterprise Resources" screen pops up and I
see a "Name or Windows Account error" on every resource line that has been
changed or added.

It will not let me save the changes. I can only cancel the pop-up screen. If
I click OK to try and save the changes, I get a “Microsoft Project†pop-up
window that says: “This value is not valid in this situation. Check the field
to see if it requires text, a date, or a number, and that you typed the
information correctly.â€

Any thoughts?

Turns out the problem was that I had Microsoft Project Professional 2002 with
Service Pack 1 (SP1).

As soon as I had Microsoft Project Professional 2002 reinstalled (without
Service Pack 1), the functionality worked again.
