Navigation bars show as text not graphic

S

Sam L.

I'm using FrontPage 2000. The server is using Front Page
2002. Everythng work fine when I publish using http,
except that the navigation bars show up as text not as
graphics.

I tried a number of different themes, but the result was
same every time: text, not graphic.

Any ideas why this is happening and what I can do to fix
this?

The URL is www.atime.ca

I tried viewing in a browser off my local copy, and that
works fine (navigation bar appears correct). The view is
correct viewed through both the preview in FrontPage as
well as when viewing it through IE off my local copy. But
when viewing the pages off the server the linkbar appears
as text.

I tried recalculating the hyperlinks and republishing,
but that didn't help.

Mysteriouser and mysteriouser.... hmmmmmmmmmm.

Believe your problem is the splash page (your real home page)
If you are using the Nav view your navigation must be under the real home page
The way to handle splash pages is to have a root web w/ only the splash page, and a subweb w/ all your other pages (including a
valid home page filename - index.html)

In your local, create a folder (say home) and right click it to convert to folder
Then Publish your entire root web to the new subweb buy browsing to it
Double click the subweb and open it, then delete the splash page in it and rename home.htm to index.html (check your nav view)
In the root web delete all but your splash page (current home page w/ a file name index.html), and lint it to the new home page
(index.html) of your subweb
The Publish ALL the RootWeb (and include Subwebs) to your server (over write / replace all)

Thanks Stefan. I would never have figured that out. I'll
try that out and let you know how it goes. Just curious
though... if this is the problem, why does the navigation
bar appear correctly when I vew the paes on my local copy
through IE?

Thanks a million for your help.

Believe it's because when you publish to the server FP is adjusting the correct home page file names
