Need to do 2 Email Sends in Outlook = Why?

Meg

I had used Outlook Express for a # of years & then changed to Outlook a year
ago as it has more options. I now use the 2003 version with WinXP Home on a
new computer that's "loaded for bear" = LOTS of memory. 3 GB speed, etc. In
Express I was used to clicking once on "send" and the email would be sent and
gone with a copy put into the Sent folder. NOW = I have to send my emails
TWICE in Outlook = once on the email page itself where I click on "Send"
which shifts it into the OutBox where it will stay till I click on
"Send/Receive" or"Send All" in the main Outlook window., then it finally
sends & a copy goes into the Sent folder. According to Microsoft's Article
Q196494, if I emptied my Sent folder, the single first send would work
because my Sent folder was probably too full. I emptied it today and I STILL
have to click Send twice!! Any ideas why? It's annoying 'cause sometimes I
get busy & forget the 2nd Send and my email stays there till whenever I
discover it later!!! Does anyone have any idea why - do the rest of you need
to do the same thing - or does your email go out on the first Send?? Help =
this has become very old 'cause I think it should send with ONE click, not
2!! Thank you . . .

Hi Diane = Yes -- that is checked and has been from the start. "Send
immediately when connected" is located on the Mail Setup tab. I don't
understand the "-- when connected" part of that phrase. It seems obvious that
I would be connected when sending my email. Would it refer to the status of
having been left in the Outbox when turning off the computer and then being
send when the computer is turned on again? That part of that command has
baffled me from the first time I saw it!?! What am I supposed to look for on
the "Other" tab that would relate to sending out the mail on the first "Send"
in the email itself -- or -- to sending out email, period???

Hi Diane ~ ~ ~ In reply to your query, my answer is Yes -- all have been
checked since I started using Outlook last year. That is why I cannot
understand why I cannot send an email using only one Send command. It is
both baffling to me as well as very frustrating to have to look for my
outgoing email now sitting in the Outbox and then click send AGAIN. It is
frustrating because when I am doing a # of emails, I am busy and don't always
remember to check the Outbox each time to be sure my emails have been sent on
their way. I am wondering if this need to double-send emails is
characteristic of Outlook so that the email is finally forwarded into the
Sent box?? Would you know whether or not this is the case with Outlook??
Thank you ~ I'll be looking for your response to this message. Meg
