We are sharing an access file between 2 computers, both
running Windows XP, only the 1st computer accessing the
file can save changes. Is there a way to both be able to
save changes in the file together?

This is a rights issue. Both users must have FULL rights to the DIRECTORY
where the database resides. This includes Delete and Create rights. When
you open an Access database, Access create an LDB file (or locking file).
If the user does not have Create rights, the file is not created. If this
file is not created, Access interprets it as the first user opening it
exclusively. Thus no other users can enter.

Not necessarily....in Access 2000 and later it is not possible for 2 users
to make design changes at the same time, whereas it was possible in earlier
versions (with some limitations). Rights may indeed be an issue, but the
poster needs to be clear about what is meant by "save changes".

I am having the same problem. I am waiting for them to try
to open the db's in question and see if they can both save.
In access their settings are the same but one person did
not have all the rights in novell to that directory.
Hopefully this will solve my problems.
