New field in a form & subform

I added a new field to a table & to the design view of my form & subform (by
adding it to the query that the form is based on). It is now in the field
list for the form & i dragged it to the design view of the form. The problem
is that it does not appear in the datasheet view! Please help.

If by "it does not appear in the datasheet view" you mean your subform, why
would you expect it to? You've added it to the "query that the ***form*** is
based on" and "dragged it to the design view of the ***form***" but why
would you think that it would appear on the subform?

It appears in the design view of both the form & the subform. I supposse
that is because I answered yes to Access's ? did I want to save it in the
form & subform. It does not appear in the datasheet view of either.

I don't know what to tell you! When a control is added to a form in Design
View but doesn't appear Datasheet View when the form is run it normally means
the control is not a bound control.

I'm also confused as to how you added a field from the field list to both the
form and the subform. Adding a field to the subform would normally be done
from its own field list. The form and subform don't share the same record
source, do they?

Thank you for your help. As I'm sure you can tell, I am a self-taught amateur.

The form and subform do have the same record source. I don't know why I am
having all this trouble. I have been able to add fields to other forms with
no problem just by adding the field to the table and then dragging it unto
the design view of the form for that table. The subfrom I am having the
problem with is a datasheet view--does that make a difference? If the field
in question is not bound, how do I make it be bound?
