New Scope Question

Hello,

New Scope Question.... I have a plan that has the first baseline set. New
scope: updated dates along with a couple new tasks that need to be added =
Baseline 1. If in the new scope a couple of new tasks are added, the span
dates of the parent task do not reflect the new (ie. original span date of
parent task-- 1/01/06 to 1/15/06 added task should be 1/30/06: span dates
now should be 1/01/06 to 1/30/06, but because of the plan already being
baselined, the span date has to manually be adjusted). Since it has already
been baselined, is it common to have to manually adjust these dates?

Thanks!

Hi,

Recalculation of a plan is independent of baselines and should happen, at
least when tools, Options, Calculation is set to Automatic.
You should NEVER have to manually adjust plan dates!

Hi Cree --

Have you properly indented the new tasks under the parent (summary)
task?

If so, and if you have your copy of MSProject configured to recalculate
the schedule automatically, then the summary task should be
automatically updated to reflect the addition of the new tasks.

If you have your copy of MSProject configured to recalculate manually,
then you can force a calculation by selecting Tools > Options >
Calculation Tab> Calculate Now... or you can hit the F9 key.

Good luck!
