No Memory In Word

Geezer

I still have Word 97, and for a long time now everything in it says not
enough memory--can't even print-good thing I don't use it too much. Is there
something I can do or did it just die of old age? :)

Are you haveing this problem with other programs or only with Word? Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling it?

I would try the simplest thing first. It is possible that
your blank document template is corrupt. Try locating a
file named Normal.dot. When you have found it, rename it
Normal.old. Restart your computer. Word will create a
new Normal.dot (the blank document template you see when
you start Word). If you do not see file extensions
(.dot, .doc, etc.) in My Computer or Windows Explorer,
click Tools > Folder Options > View, and clear the check
box at Hide extensions for known file types before you
begin your search. If this solves the problem with new
documents but not old ones, try copying and pasting the
text from the old documents to new blank ones.

I found and deleted normal.dot from advice I had read several days ago.
I did a "find file" and it is there under MS Office templates.
When I went to explorer under view tab the checkbox was already clear for
Hide Extensions.
I did not see anything in file types for .doc, or .dot. I went to
start-find and did a search for *.doc, and *.dot and there are files like
that.
I just tried the rename normal.dot to normal.old and restart-it came back
but when I even just try to open a file in Word it says insufficient memory.
Hey wait-a-minute....maybe it's referring to ME! :)
