not able to open up hyper link file on web

Not able to open hyperlink files from web. 2 caution prompt pop up for file
not able to open. As for the file that can be open. Only one cation prompt
pop up.

Please help.

Is this from a Publisher web site you created? What are the errors you are
getting? What are you entering in the link section for the object you are
trying to link?

Thanks for the psoting.

The hyperlink is not from the publisher, but other files in my local drive.

I am trying to hyperlink excel file and doc files. when i browser through
my folder to be hyperlink. Some .doc file work fine while other not able to
open in the web browser.

Working on the publisher site to check the whether the hyperlink works, i
got two caution prompt to open the link. after generate the webpage preview
to try it again to see it works, the link just dont open up the file.

Compare to only one caution prompt 2 from a good hyperlink file.

I also try to convert my excel file into html and then link it to my
pushlisher, it dont work either.


Caution Prompt 1
Hypperlinks can be harmful to your computer and data. To protect your
computer, click only those hyperlinks from trusted soruces. Do you want to
continue?

Caution prompt 2
some files can contain viruses or otherwise be harmful to your computer. It
is important to be certain that this file si from a trustworthy source. Would
like to open this file?

Files that can be hyperlink when testing on pulisher only show Caution
Prompt 2

Files that dont work on hyperlink when testing on publisher shoow Caution
Prompt 1 followed by Caution Prompt 2.

Thanks for the advice.

BTW, why is it some of the same document works and some dont(take for
example both are work document). It really pusszle me.....

Word and PDF files will probably work because your browser has the
appropriate plugin, and automatically opens the files. Other files such as
Excel files won't open in your browser... When you upload and link the
different files to the web, and click on a link to an Excel file, you will
get the download dialog choices...you don't get that choice with PDF
files...they just open.

Actually both are workd doc. That is why i am puzzled. initially i thought
the file many be the problem so i try to link same two MS documnent. My
experiment showed that one docs can open the yperlink while the others not
able to.


After going throught your notes. I try the following:

Published the website everything works accordingly. That reside in my local
drive and open up the index page to try out the link and the Hyperlink work
what i would expect. Thank for your advice.
