not receiving notifications of new emails and new emails not appearng in the inbox

exchange 2000 server, user has outlook 2000.

this one user says she is not getting new email notifications.

matter of fact, she has to log off outlook and then login again to even see
new emails in her inbox.

I have deleted and recreated her profile on the PC, no effect.

I removed outlook and reinstalled it. For a few hours it seemed to work,
she was getting the notifications, and new emails showed up in her inbox,
but it has stopped working again.

once again, she has to log off outlook and log back in to see her new
emails.

what should I look at next?
