Objects in page appear and disapear.

I have VISIO 2000 with the SP2 on it.

It does not say which edition it is (Pro, Developer, etc..)

I am having trouble with several objects disappearing from my document.

I can see them when I add them but on print preview, they are not there.
BUT, if I ZOOM in print preview, they are there.

Then if I close print preview, the same objects are no longer visible again.
BUT if I click where I know the objects are, they appear one by one as I
click them.

If an object is large like a long connector line, I have to click it in a
few places so the whole line shows up. In other words, sometimes the objects
appear at first click, other times they partially appear and I have to click
several places to get a box or line to appear in it’s entirety.

I have done these things;

Confirmed layers are all set to be visible and print
Confirmed all objects are on the page
Confirmed print range and printer settings are okay

It is as if there are random Black Holes in my page, some objects show up
fine all the time, others appear and disappear.

I have searched forums and tech documents but no fix has been able to
resolve this.

Also, as I mentioned, some of the original items on the page never go away,
but after a while, new objects seem to be affected. Even if I copy good
items and paste them, the newly pasted ones begin to appear and disappear.

Any one can help!?!?

This may seem like a simplistic answer, but the first step is to
verify that your video display drivers and printer drivers are up to
date. These can affect the display of elements in Visio both in
drawing and print preview mode.

Thanks for the input.

I checked with out IT guys. It is a brand new printer we just installed and
the print drivers are all up to date.

they could detect nothing wrong with the video card and the driver for it is
the most current.

I have much more complicated pages than these which are failing and those
all come out fine.

Still stuck.

I suggest that you ensure that someone has not accidently unticked Visible
for a layer under View / Layers.

I found it!!

Apparently I had too many (or too large) an object in the page for the
combination of Visio 2000 on my xp pro box to deal with.

I simply deleted a group of objects that was rather complicated and was
image heavy and the lines showed up when I re drew them.

Also the sheet went from 5mb to 500kb when I did that.

Seems like a visual rendering resource issue to me. I have larger files but
I do not think I have a single page with 4 MB worth of stuff on it.

With Visio 2000 we did not list the edition under help about, the only way to
distinguish the edition is by checking the available solutions. You state
objects can be added to the drawing but they cannot be seen in print preview
unless you zoom in. Is this because the objects are not scaling properly? If
the objects are placed on the page and you pan around the drawing is Visio
performing lots of redraws? These objects that are being placed on the page
are they Visio objects, meaning are they native to Visio 2000? If the objects
are obtained outside of Visio what type of objects are they?
