Off Page References in Visio

Kalor

I am trying to make an off-page reference to seperate file. How would I go
about accomplishing this? I appreciate any help you can give me

You can do that with standard hyperlinking. The "Off-page reference" shape
in the Basic Flowchart Shapes stencil has special functionality that only
works within a document. No cross-document functionality is built in.

You could add a hyperlink to that shape, or another shape of your own
creation (maybe the "home plate" with a thicker line and a color, or
something)

The hyperlink can go to other documents, of course.

Actually there is a special setting in the Off-page reference shape to allow
document to document references. You have to change the integer passed in
the RUNADDON call. I forget which number to use.

Mark is right - if you look in the ShapeSheet for the Off-page Reference,
you'll see a cell in the Events section called "EventDrop"

You can change the formula to: =RUNADDONWARGS("OPC","/CMD=4")

This will give you a more advanced link-setup page when you drag-and-drop a
new copy of the shape.

This is a great feature we've missed.
Is this functionality (/CMD=4) documented somewhere?
Other similar special features?

PS. Thanks for the great conference presentations - both of you.

I've never seen it written anywhere until Mark coughed it up : )

Here's your chance for a book: "Undocumented Visio Calls"

Glad you enjoyed the conference!

I thought Graham had it in his book already. I don't have it in front of me
to verify.
