Since upgrading to Office 2007, we've had some fun with opening files in a
location that has a gap/space in the path or indeed its file name.
Example: Double click on file stored the desktop, ie not a shortcut,
c:\Documents and Settings\fredBassett\Desktop\New Doc1.xlsx and Excel seems
to try and open the following files:
Documents.xlsx
and.xlsx
Settings.xlsx
New.xlsx
Doc1.xlsx
So, any gap in the path or filename is read as a "."(dot)?
It makes no difference if clicking a shortcut or the actual file. One has to
open the file from with Excel or Word. A real aggravation and additional
confusion to the shock of experiencing Office 2007.
This occurs on a default upgrade from Office 2000. I've not upgraded any
from Office 2003 yet.
I could find any reference to this in here, on the TechNet fora or
Microsoft.com in general.
Any thoughts?
