Office 97 Apps can only open from CD-ROM

H

HELP

I installed Office 97 and when I go to open any
application it says "This application must be installed to
run. Please run Setup from the location where you
originally installed the application."

I uninstalled and reinstalled Office to make sure it went
to my C Drive. All the icons are in the right place. All
of my old files now have the proper application icon
(rather than the generic Microsoft icon that appears when
Office is completely uninstalled). But the only way I can
open Excel or Word or any Office App is from the
installation CD itself.

What's also weird is that when I open a file, it tells me
that it cannot find the file - to make sure the path and
file name are correct. But when I open Excel from the CD
and go to "File, Open" from the pull down menu, I can open
any file.

I have no idea what is happening.

Did you select the Run from CD option perhaps?

No, I selected the typical installation. I read your post
and uninstalled and re-installed again just to make sure.
Still getting the same problem, though. Any other
suggestions?
