Office documents open slowly

I have a new XP sp2 box and have installed Office 2003 -- all original not
updated.

I have a problem opening an office attachment in Outlook email, clicking a
link to open the IE browser, and even when I click "contact us" from an
Office application help menu. Also, if I double click an office document in
the desktop explorer to open a document.

What happens is the opening hangs for a minute or so and then the document
or browser window eventually opens. After every boot from the unpowered state
this happens. The only way I have found to get a normal opening speed is to
restart windows as opposed to turning the computer off and repowering.


Cannot anything anywhere on this issue so any help would be appreciated.

If you are running Symantec/Norton AntiVirus, try disabling the Office Plugin

I've tried that and it has no effect. But thanks anyway. I have tried the
Office Install and repair. it solved the problem the next time I used the
box, but the next time the problem reappeared.
