Office doesn't work off line

I have a Dell Inspiron 8100 laptop connected to a home network via a Netgear router. When my laptop is not connected to the home network i can not access any Office XP programs, I receieve an error message after about 10-30 seconds. When I am connecetd to my home network Office XP works fine. Any ideas? Thanks, Shawn

It really isn't very helpful - to you or us - to state you receive "an error
message" - we are not clairvoyant and we cannot see your system, so how are
we supposed to assist you if you cannot assist us by posting full
information?!
