Office Updates

Currently using XP-Pro & Office 2000 Premier.
Forced to reformat hard drive and reload everything from original disc.

XP is fine; everything else is fine; Office 2000 is not. Also, fully
understand M/S discontinued support for O-2000.

Thus, only problem now is selecting proper updates from a list containing
9-years of updates for O-2000. My efforts resulted in a number of errors.
There is, of course, no need to download every one of them and in their
original order, but selecting the correct updates is proving to be a
challenge.

Even SP-3 'apparently' cannot be used without 1 & 2 being loaded first, but
this is not true of most of the others, but which ones? And, just which
updates do the SP's include, as there is no listing of this.

Request assistance in 2 areas please:
-1) Is there a site, anywhere, that will simply update O-2000 to last known
date that M/S had it's site still running? Went to downloads.com & was sent
to unknown site & choose not to trust it.

-2) If no, is there a site, or some nice person, to help filter a 9-years
listing to cover just the normal & expected updates? Maybe there is a M/S
person or site set up for 'situations' like this.

Note: do not plan on buying a later product until Office-2007 is replaced
with something that actually works and M/S actually supports. Even my IT
friends tell me to not buy the 07' product, but cannot assist with described
updates.

Any ideas?
Please review & advise.
Thank you,
Dale

Why don't you Google Office 2003 or check Ebay and buy an OEM copy? You might
find somebody who has upgraded and doesn't need their old copy. And 2003 is
still supported.

Peter, unable to determine what you are referring to. There is nothing new
on any of the M/S pages and there is no property option for this.

Please explain.

Dale... This has come up recently alot.

First, you need SR-1 which is hard to find, but can be found online (not
from Microsoft). Here's a copy&paste from a recent post; you need this file:

"The small file doesn't work.... and the large file that you need is no
longer
available from Microsoft. If you do a google search for O2KSR1aDL.exe
download, you can find some sites that still have it. It works just fine as I
just used it."

Then, go here
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/downloads/CD010225771033.aspx
and get SP3 .. you don't need SP2; as you can see in the description, SP3
covers that.

Then, get every update since SP3.... to get everything..... but I'd guess
you're probably pretty good with SP3 (unless you use Outlook; then I'd get
'em all).

Just an opinion... I just went through this.

Rick,

This is the precise information requested. Many thanks for responding. Will
do this later tonight. And yes, full-Outlook is my email program, so, will
download them all.

thanks again,
dale
