Office vs. Office11

We have Office 2k, but are upgrading to XP, slowly (throughout the bldg).
The trouble is, I am getting weird errors and messages which I have been
troubleshooting.

My immediate question is: Should there be two folders, Office and Office11,
in Office 2k installations in the following folder?
c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\

Some of the problems I'm encountering act as if there are two Word
applications open (prompting to ask about saving the Normal.dot) when there
is only one Word app open. I wondered whether if Office 97 was incompletely
over-installed (or, the files were copied to a folder) I would get such
errors.

TIA

You don't appear to know /what/ version you're installing! 'Office 11' is
Office 2003 - Office XP was version 10.
