OL 2007 Files and Synchronizing Computers-AGAIN

O

OneDave

I've searched this Outlook community extensively and see a lot of questions
about how to sync Outlook across multiple computers--but no good answers!
Everybody seems to want OL integration, but Microsoft (still) doesn't deliver
it natively, unless one is in an Exchange Server environment. (I find this
ironic, with Microsoft's current emphasis on collaboration features.)

[Brian T. keeps referring posters to a web site (slipstick.com) that indeed
contains OL file sync and sharing discussions, but it does not seem specific
enough to craft a specific user solution. It cites lots of third-party
tools, but it looks like one would have to try several to get a solution. It
is also scant on more recent OL 2007 version information and tools.]

Lacking a native MS-provided OL 2007 integration solution, or obvious
third-party solutions, I hope to get (a specific) one via our Outlook
community. After searching this forum, I am certain that many posters have
the exact same need for more detailed information and solutions.

The systems I would like to keep in sync include a desktop, a tablet, and a
pocket pc, configured on a home network as follows:

Desktop: Windows Vista Business. Includes Sync Center and Office 2007
Enterprise. Connected to cable internet modem via a router. Has an external
hard disk connected via USB.
Tablet: Windows for Tablet PC 2005, Office 2007 Professional, connected to
cable internet modem via the same router. Running ActiveSync 4.5.
PPC: Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition. Activesync. Can connect to
desktop or tablet via USB with cradle, or to tablet via bluetooth.

Software on all computers is RTM and is up-to-date with their MS updates
applied. All systems are stable. Also, I have backed up my OL data files.
I am the only user of these systems and I usually only work with one
system/OL at a time.

My pea-brain worked out a sync solution using the PPC as an intermediate,
synching separately to the desktop and to the tablet. This seemed to work
somewhat, although I had to cancel and establish partnerships a few times and
I ended up with lots of duplicated OL items on all devices. (I bought a
duplicate-remover that seems to have worked.) I also seem to lose color
categories and flags when moving OL items via the PPC. Surely, there is a
better way to integrate OL 2007 across these platforms. Specific solutions
would be greatly appreciated.

Another thing that I wonder about OL2007 is what files are associated with
it other than .PST files? For example, I'd like displayed toolbars and
applied rules to be the same between the desktop and tablet, so what files
would I dupe to achieve this manually and where are they located? I would
appreciate a listing of OL2007 file types and functions, if anyone knows this
or has a good article.

My main hope is that someone has a well-working solution for OL2007
integration across multiple platforms such as I have. (Sorry, please don't
reply if it does not apply to OL2007<->OL2007 integration, or if the advice
is generic.)

Many thanks,
Dave

Dave,
The app you're looking for is OsaSync Pro (www.vaita.com)

I did a similar search, tried about 15 different suggestions and finally
found this one. Works well, plays nice with Microsoft products. Excellent
customer support
