Once downloaded, how do I save and use calendars and journals?

I want to use a daily journal on my computer as well as a daily calendar. I
found what I was looking for on office and downloaded them, but now I can't
find them. Do I need to save them first, and will I need to be online to use
them so that I start with a blank page everyday?

You mean when you attempted to close the application, you didn't see a
reminder to save
open files? The templates aren't saved unless you physically save them.

Assuming you mean that you went to the Microsoft template site and
downloaded one of those templates, it should now be on your system.

What application were they for? Assuming they were for Word, click
File > New and you should see them listed in one of the template
locations.

If not, and you remember the names, you can search your hard drive to
find them.

If you can't find them...you might want to go to it again and this
time make a point of clicking File > SaveAs and watch where they are
saved.

Although they are most likely in your default template folder. To find
that location, click Tools > Options > File Locations > User Templates
and click MODIFY to view the entire path.

And if you have trouble finding the path, you may still have some of
the hidden folder/extension defaults set on your system. You'll have
to go into File Explorer and change the settings under View > Options.

Good luck!

Remind me why you were made MVP (if, indeed, you really are - I have been
posting in these groups since Office 95 and I've never seen you - and you
have to be present and posting for asubstantial period of time before you're
awarded)? You don't even state what your area of expertise is - it certainly
isn't Office! Templates downloaded from the Office site aren't automatically
saved, you have to physically save them (try it!) Now will you cease and
desist in posting such inane garbage! If you're the quality of MVP MS are
awarding these days, then the programme has really lost all credibility.

A Google search shows me that you've been posting for a year at most and
your 'advice' is suspect at best. At worst it's complete and utter garbage,
for want of a better word.

I've been a Microsoft MVP since 1995 and I've been posting in these
Newsgroups since they started...and before that in the Microsoft
Compuserve forums.

If you have a problem with my posts, feel free to report me to
Microsoft. Seeing that you are probably the rudest, most obnoxious
poster in these groups these days, I'm sure they'd love to hear from
you.

Cheers!

Check your temp folder. I didn't save the templates I looked at but they
were stuffed in a directory in the temp folder.

I've got to second that thought. She really should leave that language in
the teen chat rooms. And the worst thing is sometimes Miss Tick's advice is
incorrect.

Thanks for adding this tip, Clark (love the name<g>).

Yes, RKM, it's been awhile since I downloaded templates from the new
Office web site and the format has changed some so it appears my
comments were off the mark a bit. But as Clark says...check your cache
and TEMP file, they're probably there. In the future, it appears we'll
both need to remember to save the files if we want to reuse them. ;-)

(Thanks again for chiming in, Clark<wink>.)
