One project plan-many small clients

I've been a user of MS Project and MS Project EPM for many years and have
never encountered this question. My new Director would like us to set up one
template to be used for many small customers with approx. 4-5 tasks each. We
are migrating to MSPS 2007 in the summer. Sounds like a good idea and
certainly will make it easier for resources to enter time but just want to
understand if there's any impact say to reporting, etc....anyone ever do
this? I'm used to one project plan per customer methodology...tks all!

Hello-thanks for the response but I am asking if we had one master project
template and used it for many, many small customers, (these projects usually
consist of 4-5 tasks only and 1-2 resources), has anyone seen an impact in
the way MSPS operates especially with reporting? Have you seen this done
before? We are a mid-size organization that does many, many projects with a
variety of size, etc...tks again for the help!

Hi,

So just the reverse of what I'm doing?
Makes things definitely more complex (integrating all these small files) but
everything remains possible.

What do you mean by "template"? Are you talking about one *.mpt file that
you use over and over? Creating a seperate file for each customer/project?
YOu could conceivably have hundreds of files?

That senerio can work very well. Project handles that easily.

Or are you saying by "template", you mean one giant super-sized file?

Which is it?
