OneNote and Exchange Public Folders

In our company, we make extensive use of Public folders in Exchange to store
messages and notes (Exchange notes).
Using Outlook with Exchange, you can post notes in Public Folders. Is it
possible to post OneNote notes instead? Or how can we publish seamlessly
notes into Public Folders?

The individual section files (with the *.ONE extention) can be manually
attached into any Outlook document type (including those in your public
folders). Other users will need to have OneNote installed to read the
files. The file will look like an attachment in the message (as opposed to
the content of the ONE file being embedded in the bopy of the Outlook
message). That's about the extent of the Public Folder support.

If you're looking for collaboration features, OneNote does support sharing
notes directly with another user or seamlessly publishing via SharePoint.

This would work but I might as well publish a note in HTML in a public folder
such that users that do not have OneNote can read them.

'tis the rub.

It's the same as any other Office program - other users must have the
same program (or in some cases a read-only viewer) to be able to read the
documents unless you export/convert to a more neutral format such as
HTML.
