Open File

I wanted to know how to invoke the "File Open" dialog box
through a maro (where I can control which folder is being
accessed). It would be like a user clicking on the Open
button, but this would actually select the right drive and
folder for them, allowing them to select a file from the
folder. Any hints for me?? Thanks!

What's with all the File questions all of a sudden? Is this a college
assignment?

Either use the built-in dialog -- check the Help topic: Displaying built-in
Word dialog boxes -- or use a commondialog control on a UserForm.

Did you ever figure out how to do this? I have the exact same issue as you.
The responder Jezebel said to use the built-in dialog but as you said that
doesn't let you pre-direct the user to the desired folder. I tried to use the
commondialog control, but when I place it in a Word document I get the
message "Error! Not a valid embedded object." Plus like you I wanted a macro
I could call from a menu or toolbar button. If you have figured it out I
would appreciate any help.
