Open pst files

My old computer has 6 pst files. I want to open them to
determine what's in them. When I try to open the 5 oldest
pst files with Outlook 2000, I get a blank email form
with the pst file attached. When I try to open the latest
and largest pst file (0.3 GB), I get the following error
message: "The process cannot access the file because
another process has locked a portion of the file."

This is very different than the way my other programs
behave. Can someone point me toward something that would
explain this and how I can open pst files?

Ultimately, I want to copy the appropriate pst file to my
new computer, which has Office 2003 installed.

Try using the Outlook FILE menu
Select OPEN
Select PERSONAL FOLDERS FILE (.PST)...
Then drill down to where you have the pst.

NOTE: Did you move it to a CD? If so, then you need to
Save it to your computer somewhere and then
Right click on the saved file to bring up the properties.
and remove the "Read Only" property attribute.
