Open Publisher files in Publisher 2000, ver 6.00 that were created

Open Publisher files created in Publisher 2000, ver 6.00 when Publisher 2000,
ver 6.00 has suddenly decided that it can't open files from an older version
when the only version I have ever had and used is Publisher 2000, ver 6.00.
What's it playing at and how do I ger round it?
