opening 2 copies of same file

Mariah

Somehow all of a sudden one particular file started
opening up 2 copies anytime any of us open the file (it is
on a shared drive). I have searched through help to try
and find a reason why and a way to fix it but haven't
found anything yet. If someone could help me I would
greatly appriciate it. Please let me know if you need
more info. Thanks!

Is it really opening up 2 copies or is it splitting the window?

When you goto Window Menu do you see the file name listed twice?

Hi Mariah!

You probably have two windows open for the file.

Close one of the windows by pressing the lowest X button

Then save the file and close the one you have left.

Re-open.

It is really opening up 2 copies. The file name is listed
twice in the Window menu. They show up as "xxx:1"
and "xxx:2".

This is aresult of someone playing with Window>New Window. Will give you two
copies of the Window, not two copies of the file.

This is a handy feature if you want to have two different views of one sheet
or views of two sheets or workbooks.

I say "two" but it could be multiple Windows arranged side by each or tiled or
whatever your Window>Arrange is set for.

Select one of the Windows and Close it(not Excel, just the Window). Save the
remaining one.
