opening a document

Until last Tuesday when I opened a new document it opened showing the
full page. Now it opens showing only the main text area. I can display
the full page by clicking on view headers and footers but am puzzled as
to why this has happened and how to get back to where I was.

Yes thanks - although show white space is checked!!

Indeed, most people I'm sure do have it checked - but it's easy to
accidentally click just above or below the document, which will still
take away the white space. A further click brings it back.
