Opening a web-embedd .pps document

When I try to run a web-embedded .pps presentation, it
opens to plain text with garbled characters instead of the
images that are supposed to appear on the slides. I'm
using Powerpoint X with SP2, running Mac OS 10.3.2. I
don't have any trouble with other .pps or .ppt files, just
this one. I don't have any trouble viewing it on my pc at
work (running Win 2K SP3 and Powerpoint XP.) Anyone know
what's causing this?

Mac browsers don't read .PPS files in the browser. If the person saved the
file as a .HTM file (which you would notice in the Address box), then it
would be readable, but if you see .PPS in the address bar with this file,
the behavior is expected.

The solution is to open up the .PPS file with all of the plain text
characters in the browser, and then go to File -> Save As. Save the file to
your computer. Then, launch PowerPoint, go to File -> Open, choose to view
"All Documents", and choose the file you've just saved.
