Opening files very slow in word and excel

When I click on the look in down arrow when searching for files it hangs for
about 5 minutes before opening file options. If I right click on files for
dropdown box to rename a file egg timer appears for five minutes and I do not
get the dropdown options. When I try to open files from another drive it is
extremely slow in locating and opening the files.

Right-click on the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop,
left-click on Disconnect Network Drive, and disconnect any mapped
drives that are not currently available.
