Opening files

Jon

My wife is a teacher and has been given some forms to
print off which are in Publisher format, I have Pub 98 and
it recognises the files and in the 'open', 'file preview'
box it showes the image/form but when I double click for
it to open fully to screen the script comes up to say
that "Publisher cannot open files from a different
version". Obviously I understand that comment but don't
understand why I can see it in preview, the icons are
recognisable as Publisher yet I can't open them? Any help
please........ Thanks

Hi JL Amerson ([email protected]),
in the Microsoft® newsgroups
you posted:

|| They are from a newer version. You could ask the originator to save
|| them as an older version but you don't seem to know what version
|| they are using so I don't know what versions they can save as.
||
|| If your system can handle it, it may be time to upgrade. And from
|| what I've read around here, Pub 98 was not a good version to own.
|| You could be in for a pleasant surprise.

Actually JoAnn, in my opinion, Publisher 98 was solid, and stable and added
features that previous versions didn't offer, but it removed the ability to
have a default font at start up, where as Publisher 97 had this ability.

But that is my opinion. I have Publisher 1.0 - 2003 loaded on two systems,
and every version is pretty darn solid. But you know me, I agree with your
upgrade comment ;-)
