Opening in Word 2000 from other Word sources

When I open a Word document from another Word source in my Word 2000, my app is freezing up. I use XP Pro and Office 2000. Problem seems to have started after I installed all the upgrades from the MS upgrade site. Any suggestions other than re-installing original Word 2000
Thanks for any help.

Have you done a Detect and Repair in Word 2000 from the Help menu to see if
it will repair any problems caused by a possible bad installation? Its
possible that something has gone corrupted.

Disable the Office Plug-in in Norton AntiVirus.
