Opening Outlook Data File

P

prheritage

I recently had some work done on my Win ME but
unfortunately my main Oulook.pst file was destroyed or
lost in the process. I didn't have a recent backup but one
that is a few months old and I'm trying to open it to
retrieve at least some of my data. I've tried to open this
file by selecting File, Open, Outlook Data File and then
selecting the file name. The file won't open and the
message I receive is:
"File access is denied. You don't have the permission
required to access the file C:\Windows\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\BMG Laptop.PST."

I did have a password on this file but since there is no
prompt to input the password, I can't do anything else.

Help! Is ther a fix?

Make sure the file isn't marked read-only. If it's on a CD, move it to your
hard drive and remove the read-only attribute.
