Outlook 2000 pst

I can send email, but I can not receive it. I get error message 0x80040403. In my research, it did not tell me what caused it. I followed the instructions and renamed the outlook.pst and now I can send and receive. But every time I restore the Personnal Folder files, I get the error message. I have a years work in these files and I would like to be able to use them. What could be in the Personnal Folders files that is causing the error? TIA

You can use the scanpst.exe to try and repair your PST. If your PST is over
1 GB and approaching 2 GB it usually can become unstable. Microsoft has a
couple of KB that might be helpful if that's the case.

Scanpst.exe is located in the C:\Program Files\Common
Files\System\MSMAPI\1033 directory.
