outlook data backed us as office data file

i recently backed up my outlook data and somehow it was
backed up as an "office data file" not an "outlook data
file". I am unable to open the file in outlook or
word.is there a procedure to convert the file to an
outlook data file so i can view it?

Does it have a .pst extension on the file name? If yes, it is an outlook
data file.
