Outlook does not correctly autoformat *bold* and _italic_

I have my autoformat set up to *bold* and _italic_ and it does change the
words between * * and _ _ to bold or italics, respectively, but it does not
remove the asterisks or underscores - I have to go back in and do that
myself. It works fine in Word.

How do I fix this?

Outlook version? Are you using Word as the mail editor?

Both Outlook and Word are 2007. And yes, I'm using Word as the mail editor.
I did make sure to set the autoformat in Outlook as well as Word and I assume
it is set up right because it does bold or italicize, but it just doesn't
remove the asterisks or underscores. Thanks for your help!

Sorry this took so long. I can reproduce this problem and I'll see if I can
get the Outlook team to look at it.
