Outlook - email .pst file not opening

I am not able to open my Outlook for emails.
Items are not archived... though the number of emails
in the inbox was very large. Does it have any relation
to size of .pst file?

Also wanted to know whether Outlook gives any message
alart, if the size of the Inbox is growing? Is there any
limit for storing the messages into Outlook?
