Obviously something is corrupted somewhere. I created a ,pst file.
Now I get the message "Unable to display the folder. Microsoft
Outlook could not access the specified folder location. The folder
no longer exists." I also tried putting in the files from my old
pc which has a working copy of Outlook. I got the same message when
I did that. Do you have any further suggestions?

in message Your .PST file is the file that stores all your Outlook data --
mail, contacts, appointments, tasks, etc. -- and some settings.
You should see at least one of them listed under File | Data File
Management -- if you can't get to this when Outlook is open, go to
Control Panel, click the Mail icon, and click Data Files. If you
don't see a .PST file listed there, you will need to add the file
you used before you installed Outlook 2002. Actually, I'm assuming
you were already using Outlook previously -- maybe I shouldn't
assume this. Were you using Outlook?

I'm new to this. What is a PST file and how would I re-add it?

I recently installed Office XP on my new computer and can't use
Outlook. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing, and
repairing more than once. I've downloaded all the updates.
When I try to open Outlook I get the message "cannot access
default e-mail files ." It then gives me the option of having
my standard files instead of the Outlook folders but that's no
good. I can't send or receive.
