outlook is slow

outlook is running very slow when i try to switch
folders. i have deleted all the files that are not
needed. i use office xp. any help or suggestions since i
can't correspond with microsoft without paying thru the
nose? thanks

Check the Instant Messenger setting at the bottom of Tools>Options>Other.
If it's checked, uncheck it and see if that helps.
