Over-wrighting text, line breaks

When I type an email or word document, the line cursor
skips from the end of the line to what appears to be
random spots throughout the text as I type. Can anyone out
there offer a fix to this? I have tried everything and it
will not stop doing it. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you are the
angel that has the solution, please let me know as I can't
be alone is this.
