Page numbering

I have a multi-section document that I have numbered so that each section
re-starts the page numbering with 1. I also added the field code (section)
followed by a hyphen in front of it. It prints perfectly. Now, the problem
I have is that when I create a table of contents and an index, it will not
include the section number and the hyphen. It just puts the page number. It
seems like everything ios on page 1 or 2 but doesn't refer back to the
section number.

The only way to include another number that will be picked up by the TOC is
to use the "Include chapter number" feature. See

I tried that also. It doesn't seem to recognize the chapter numbers. Do I
have to assign the chapter numbers specifically? If so, HOW??

Did you read the article? They must be the auto paragraph numbers of one of
Word's built-in heading styles.
