I cannot find a newsgroup catering for my problem, so I am posting it here,
for someone to tell me where I should post it, to get a comprehensive
answer, or to give me solution to my problem.

I am a self taught old age beginner and currently am trying to solve the
problem of dealing with my Screenshots.

I paste them into Paint, but there I cannot find any instructions on how to
remove some parts of the Screenshot, and the eraser will not do! Thank you
in advance, for whichever answer you will give me!

I just tried it and had no problem with the eraser.

Can you pick a color and use one of the other tools like
"Fill", "Pencil", or "Brush"?

Paint is an elementary edit program, not many tools to pick from. You want to try the
masks. The free-form select tool (looks like a star on the toolbar) will cut out
parts. Once you cut the part you selected, you can delete it or copy, new, paste.
The other mask, select, will cut out a rectangle.

As one of the posts already said, Paint is extremely elementary. If you have
Microsoft Photo Editor, use it instead of Paint. It has a lot more editing
capability and is relatively easy to use. You paste the screen shots into
Photo Editor in the same way as with Paint.
