Pantone Color Swatches in Publisher 2007

L

Lady J.

My Pantone Color Swatches have disappeared and in their place is a color
wheel with a cursor. This is very ineffective and limits the choices I now
can
make as to fill colors, etc. I do a lot of graphics for non profit
organisations and this has left
me very frustrated.
How do I go about getting the swatches back ???

Sincerely,
Lady J.

Are you using a trial?
Do an *Office Diagnostics* found in the Help Menu.
If you drag a new instance of *Fill* from the Customizing toolbar, do the
Pantone swatches appear in the new instance? (Right-click the toolbar,
customize, format)

Thank you for Responding Mary,
I did an Office Diagnostic and all came back fine. I tried to customize
the toolbar, to no effect.
The version I'm using is Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007. It is an
Educational version purchased for courses I was taking at the time.
Does this make a difference at all ???

If it doesn't, then can you think of any other possible solution ?

Does this make a difference ??? If it does what can I do to change it ?

If this isn't the issue then, do you have any other suggestions I could
possibly try ?

Hoping for a miracle,
Lady J.

I don't know if it makes a difference or not. Were the Pantone colors there
before with this version? You said in the earlier post the colors had
disappeared. Can you access the Commercial Printing tools in the Tools menu?
Maybe your profile could be repaired...

The Pantone colors displayed themselves as color swatches. The colors now
are a color wheel which doesn't allow me to refine my color choices.
I can access the Commercial Printing tools and played with that. I found no
difference.
My color choices are still limited to an ineffective Pantone color wheel.

Do you think that perhaps uninstalling the program and then re-installing it
will make any difference ? I've hesitated doing this because it would mean
re- registering the program and that at times can be quite a process.

The only suggestion I would have is to either re-install Publisher or in the
Control Panel, do the repair there. Publisher is the only program in Office that
displays Pantone swatches.
The only instance of Pantone I can find in the Registry is here:

HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-2216611877-3389070227-308298451-1009\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Common\HelpViewer\MRU
Query

Do you have this key?

Thank you Mary for your help.

I've tried many things this last week to rectify the Pantone issue. I've
emailed Pantone with the issue (they suggested several things of which I'm
trying), I emailed the head of the Tech department at Microsoft (only to not
get an answer). At this point my options are to live with what's happened to
the color swatches or go and investigate what other software is being offered
out there that is not a Microsoft product.

This has been so disappointing.

I thank you very much for all of your suggestions and for the trouble you
took to try to find a solution for me.
I've decided that I'm not spending anymore time with this issue (in as much
as trying to fix it)
there doesn't seem to be a fix readily available anywhere.

Thanks once again.

Lady J.

Try Tools | Commercial Printing tools | Color printing and check Process
colors Plus spot colors box.

Then when you click on More Colors you should see the tab for Pantone.
