Pasting in edit

G

Goldilocks

Since my computer crashed due to a virus, and all software had to be
re-loaded I am having sporadic problems pasting in edit to a previously saved
MS Word document. This includes going to an old document, copying, and
pasting it into a new one. The default font always goes to Paprys, which I
change manually, but it would be nice to set it once and for all. However,
even doing that, often times the paragraph/line spacing is off and there is
nothing I can do to change it. Previously, when having trouble pasting in
documents or e-mail documents where the spacing was off, I have been able to
go to Notepad, format it, and then copy and paste, but Notepad no longer
shows as a normal document either, but pastes everything in a very wide
document. I'm sure there are some simple tool fixes, but I haven't been able
to figure out what they are. Thank you for any suggestions.

Make sure that the target document has the desired formatting, by modifying
the style(s) as desired (often it suffices to modify the Normal style). Then
Edit | Paste Special as "Unformatted Text"; that way, the pasted text will
adjust to the formatting of the target document.

For the issue with NotePad, you may want to ask in a Windows newsgroup.
