Pasting Word X selections into PowerPoint X

Before being serviced by the school's IT support staff, I was able to copy a
selection in Word and "Paste Special" into Powerpoint and keep all of the
word formatting. This has since changed and in the paste special menu, I am
unable to tell PowerPoint to accept it as a Word document. Is there
something I can do to get this back to where it was before?

I haven't seen anything like that happen, and since you're asking about Word
X into PPT X, I have to ask if this is a Mac question. If not, I'd suspect
your user permissions or your antivirus software. (Heck, I don't even know
if you can have user permissions on a Mac!)
