Picture disappearse

Greetings. I use Publisher XP, part of MS Office XP Pro package, on a
MS Windows XP Professional computer. I am creating an invitation from
the blank template, and this is my problem. When I copy an object
from a TIFF file loaded in Paint, and paste it into Publisher, the
copied object shows up initially for me to use. After I've resized
it, moved it around for a little bit, and then do other things with
it, it just disappears. I go to the Print Preview and it doesn't show
up there either. Its 'box' exists for me to resize and move around,
but it shows nothing. Why did it suddenly disappear? What do I do to
keep it from disappearing? Does Publisher XP not like TIFF
file-related stuff? I found that if I don't touch the object after
I've pasted it, it doesn't do the disappearing act. Since I've first
experienced this problem, I've encountered it several times, all while
copying/pasting stuff from TIFF files. If there's any additional
information you need, please don't hesitate to ask me for it. Thank
you for your help!

Why not simply import the TIFF file into Publisher via Insert > Picture?
Copying and pasting pictures into Publisher is likely to cause issues.

Ed,
Thank you for the quick response. I don't want to import the entire
picture, rather, just a portion of it. For example, I have a logo
with lettering saved as a TIFF file. All I want from the TIFF file is
the logo, so I just select the logo from the file and then I copy it
from the file and paste it into Publisher. I did not know there were
known issues associated with the copying/pasting of stuff outside of
Publisher into Publisher. Is there a better way to do this to prevent
such issues? I guess the obvious is to separate the logo and
lettering into different files and import them that way. If that is
what I must do, I can handle that, but if you know of a more
acceptable way that is simple as well, please share.

You would be better off using a graphics program to crop the image, save it
as a new file, and import the file into Publisher

Ed,
Thank you for your quick response. I am aware of how to import a
picture file into Publisher, but I don't necessarily want to import
the whole file. Let's say I have a file that contains a logo with
words underneath it. In Publisher, all I need is the logo, no
lettering, so I have been opening the TIFF file in Paint, selecting
the logo, copy it, paste it into Publisher and that's it. Up until
now, I was not aware of any issues that this process causes. If there
is a more preferred way of doing what I just described, that doesn't
cause issues, please let me know. I guess I could save the logo and
words into two separate files and do the regular import process. If
that's what I've got to do, then I'm fine with that.

I have never seen or heard of any issues copying and pasting a picture into
Publisher - any version.

Ed,
Thanks for the help. I'll go that route and enjoy the lack of stuff
disappearing. Have a good one.
